Choosing a Wedding Entrance Song
Everything about planning a wedding is exciting and a little chaotic. But one of the most enjoyable parts of planning a wedding is picking the music that will be involved in the greatest night of your life. When picking your playlists you can get the latest’s trends and blend them in with some more nostalgic songs creating the perfect combination of YOU.
As you’re planning your wedding music keep in mind that you may also want to set aside some extra special songs for your first dance, daddy daughter dance/mother son, recessional, background, bouquet toss, etc… Although this task can seem overwhelming at first, when you start a list of potential songs you may be surprised how many you have in mind and the hardest part may be just picking one. Keep it personal, don’t try to beat your audience over the head with a message or story, just choose what feel natural and sleep on it.
Now, you may have picked a song that you and your father liked to sing as a child for your daddy daughter dance, you may have picked YOUR song for the first dance, but what are you going to do about your first appearance, what about the entrance song? How do you want to highlight this evening by introducing yourself as the new Mr. and Mrs.? First things first, do you want it upbeat or elegant, playful or majestic? Once you have chosen a basic category you can really get down to work. Make a list and listen to each song while envisioning your entrance, don’t forget to involve your groom-to-be and eventually it will fall into place.
Words of caution: It is completely acceptable to do a funny or ridiculous song for your entrance, just make sure that that’s really who you are. Some couples have created dance numbers or other forms of entertainment for their entrance which is great, but remember that most of the people attending your wedding know you; this means that if you are doing something far outside of your personality it may come across a little strange. The same goes with being too serious, if you play a regular drudge when you’re crazy and dynamic couple, people may be a little confused.
