Every state in the U.S. is filled with people who are extremely talented.   In the last decade however, Utah has been the birth place for several musicians that have made it into the big leagues.  Maybe it’s the water, maybe it’s the Mormons, no matter what it is we are glad it’s happening and pleased to have so many celebrities declare Utah as their origin.  Here is a list of some of our great artists…

Neon Trees: an alternative rock band that started in Provo and has since received international exposure with their most popular album “Habits”.

Fictionist: another alternative rock band from Provo that began back in 2000.  In 2009 they won an Independent Music Award for their single “Invisible Hand”.

Imagine Dragons:  Currently one of the most popular bands in the nation, Imagine dragons has won multiple awards for their albums and songs.  In 2013 Rolling Stone named “Radioactive” the rock hit of the year and MTV later called them the years biggest breakthrough.  Their songs continue to stay on the Billboards top 10.

Meg & Dia: These lovely rockin ladies formed in 2004 and are in fact sisters.  In 2007 they toured with Angels & Airwaves with their album Here, here and here and although they have recently broken up (Megs going back to school) they are still making music under other names.

Other artists include The New Electric Sound, The Moth & the Flame (vocalist and drummer previously a member of Dance Doctors), Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand, Kid Theodore, The Brobeks, Royal Bliss, David Archuleta, Joshua James, Parlor Hawk (shares a drummer with the Groove Merchants), Lindsey Stirling,  The Used, Allred, Mindy Gledhill, Desert Noises, SheDaisy, The Strike, Charley Jenkins, and of course THE OSMONDS, who could forget?

Let me know who I left out; comment below with other artists from Utah that weren’t on my list.
